Allow Inspectors to authenticate with something other than SSH

I've been trying to enable VMware ESXi snapshot monitoring using Liongard, but am realizing that SSH is currently the only way of authenticating with a host. As much as I would love to enable SSH on all of my ESXi hosts, it is against our security policy. It's difficult to make sure SSH is updated on all hosts at the same time, and having different versions enabled acrossed our clients, even if it's just internally, is a quite large security risk. It seems to me like there are other, more secure methods of obtaining snapshot data from and ESX host; SNMP is a possible option as I know software like Auvik uses this to collect data from ESXi hosts.

SNMP would be great, or the vSphere REST API could be a great alternative
